A Farewell

Monday night we said our goodbyes to Nate and Marit, who are going back to the States after two jam-packed weeks of leading us through museum visits, helping us navigate our culture shock, and settling us into our internships (among many other things). They gave us each postcards pertaining to “our” animal that we chose to research during our Kruger trip. On the backs, we re-created our isivivanes (see Eric’s Robben Island post for more explanation) and ended up passing them around to collect each other’s, compiling all the words and ideas that each one of us wanted to take away from our South African experience. Mine, “preserve memories but move forward” represents what I’ve seen as the post-apartheid goal for many of the museums and organizations we’ve visited.

ImageSo here’s to Nate and Marit, and everything they’ve done for us–thanks!
